URL: https://mynoise.net

Browser / Version: Firefox 118.0
Operating System: Windows 10
Tested Another Browser: Yes Chrome

Problem type: Something else
Description: Media keys don't work correctly
Steps to Reproduce:
When playing media on this website, the Play/Pause button on my physical keyboard does not function correctly. It should pause or resume playback, but nothing happens. It works in Chrome, and other websites (Spotify / YouTube) respond correctly to the Play/Pause button.

Browser Configuration
  • None

@benshep We appreciate your report. Based on what you described, the issue can be reproduced on other browsers and it is not a Compatibility issue.

This is the result using Firefox:

And this is the result using Chrome:

For this project, we try to focus our effort on layouts, features, or content of the page that works as expected in one browser but not in another.

Notes:
if the play key is on the F5 keyboard, the audio does not play.

@sv-calin Can you take a look as well, please?

Tested with:

Browser / Version: Firefox Release 118.0.2 (64-bit)/ Chrome Version 118.0.5993.89 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Operating System: Windows 10 PRO x64

I was able to reproduce it, Play/pause button (F5 in my case) does not work on Firefox but it works on Chrome. It acts like media.hardwaremediakeys.enabled is set to false when in reality is set to true.

mynoise.mp4

Tested on:
• Browser / Version: Firefox Nightly 121.0a1 (2023-10-23) / Firefox Release 118.0.2 / Chrome 118.0.5993.71
• Operating System: Windows 10

Notes:

  1. Reproducible on both Firefox Release and Nightly
  2. Not reproducible on Chrome

Moving to Needsdiagnosis.
