Would it be possible to adjust automatically the "gain" using the "content loudness" provided in Youtube videos (you can see it with Stats for nerds)? This way, we wouldn't have to adjust the gain for every video we watch...
In my case, Youtube videos with a content loudness of 0dB are ok, but sometimes the video shows a content loudness of -16dB which is very low. Since Youtube doesn't have an option to normalise the audio, it would be smarter to adjust the gain automatically.

Yeah, I guess it would be possible, should be possible to detect bad channels too, but I'm not a fan of magic features and I don't really have time to work on this. Pull requests welcome :)
