I am a UK based Full-Stack Software Developer with 7+ years of industry experience. My love for building things started with Lego as a kid, but now I enjoy building software!
This wonderful journey started with Java but I have since worked with a wide variety of technologies:
Spring | Hibernate | JDBC | MySQL | JavaScript | jQuery | CSS3 | HTML5 | React | React Native
I've coded using the following editors:
Eclipse | Spring Tool Suite | Android Studio | XCode | Visual Studio Code | IntelliJ IDEA
My career highlights include:
- designing database tables and RESTful APIs
- writing and deploying app for Android (using Java) and iOS devices (using Swift)
The crowning glory of my career so far was leading the front-end development of a large-scale project over several years.
I'm really passionate about upskilling and connecting with others in the Tech community.
- My first experience of programming was with the visual programming language Max MSP, which I was introduced to during my BSc in Music Technology.
- I landed my first tech job through fellow volunteers, whilst helping out a local charity shop.
- Giving back feels good. I've done a few 13 mile bike rides and 10K runs for various charities, and also I volunteered at the 2023 and 2024 Manchester Tech Festival events. In October 2024 I joined the development team at Straightforward Job Site as a volunteer.
- Music. My taste is pretty varied, but my absolute favouite genres are Bhangra and UK Garage.
- Coffee.
- Chocolate.
- Pasta. Mac n Cheese is the ULTIMATE comfort food!!
- Puzzles. I've been doing Sudoku puzzles since my teen years, and I've recently completed my second 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle and first 3D jigsaw puzzle!
- Sunflowers. During the Pandemic, lots of bright and tall ones dominated the garden.
- Colour. The world would be a dull place without it!
- John Crickett's 'Build Your Own Google Keep' Challenge Coding Challenge (https://codingchallenges.fyi/challenges/challenge-keep/)
- Upskilling in React via a Udemy course.
