Store master password in your OS' keyvault

The plugin can store your master key in your OS' key store (ie GNOME Keyring, KWallet, OSX Keychain or Windows Password Vault). This feature is disabled by default. You'll need to download additional software, and enable the feature in the addon preferences menu. But see Secure-your-settings before you decide.

To use this feature, you'll need to install a "Native bridge" for your system. The installation varies with your operating system:

Troubleshooting

  • Did you install the helper software?

  • Open the browser log (typically Ctrl + Shift + J) and try again.

  • The last line will likely be "pwvault_gateway failed ..." If the line above says File does not exist or permission error, the helper is not correctly installed.

  • if you see stderr output from .. the helper is installed, but malfunctioning. The message given may guide you further
