We present a scheme to distribute a macroscopic amount of entanglement across long-distances using a number of operations that scales only linearly with the chain length in the ideal case (without decoherence).

We show that it is possible to obtain non-maximally entangled states with the use of the bosonic analog of XY Hamiltonian and the methods of quantum optimal control.
