I have a question, is it possible to use LLM Studio instead of Ollama with Writing Tools?

Yes, you can now do that. To use LM Studio with writing tools, you need to open it as a server and then select “OpenAI Compatible” within the writing tool – not Ollama.

This is because LM Studio doesn’t use OpenAI's API in the same way that LM Studio does.

Provider: OpenAI-Compatible (not “Ollama”).
API Base URL: http://LM-STUDIO-IP-SERVER:1234/v1
API Key: any string (LM Studio does not require it, but many UIs do).
API Model: the exact name of the model you started in LM Studio (e.g., gemma-3-4b-instruct or what you see in the “Developer → Server” panel).
