There were several PRs opened by the code-scanning tool, which suggested that some libraries referenced in this repo were outdated. I updated the SDK references to reflect the latest releases and did the same for other relevant libraries (such as JUnit, SLF4J, Mockito, and Apache Commons Lang).
While testing the code, I discovered a handful of other problems, such as missing instructions in the README or invalid directory structure for the code. I fixed those. The commit log messages should detail all of my changes.
