Intro

This guide will teach you how to obtain the necessary files required to use the Octo Valley Randomizer.

Requirements

  • A Wii U with a copy of Splatoon of any region updated to the latest version (2.12.1 as of the time of writing, the randomizer will NOT work with any other versions)
  • A Wii U running Aroma custom firmware (Visit https://wiiu.hacks.guide for more information on doing so.)
  • An SD Card or USB drive with enough free space to dump the update (Around 630MB should suffice)

Dumping Guide (Console)

  1. Power on your Wii U while holding the R button so you won’t boot into Aroma.

  2. Open the internet browser, then go to https://dumplingapp.com/

  1. Tap “Launch Dumpling”, then wait for Dumpling to load.
    • If your Wii U freezes after following this step, force shutdown the console by unplugging it or holding the power button for 4 seconds, then repeat steps 1-3 until Dumpling eventually loads.
  1. Select “Dump only Update files of a game.”
  1. Select Splatoon from the list of titles, then press +.
  1. Select the dump destination, turn on the initial scan for required empty space, select Confirm, then wait for the dump to finish.
  1. Once the dump has been completed, navigate back to the main menu, then exit Dumpling. You'll find the dump on your SD card/USB device in <storage device root>/Dumpling/Updates/Splatoon, which you can then copy to somewhere on your PC.

Dumping Guide (Cemu)

If you already have the update loaded into Cemu, you can access the game files by right-clicking the game in Cemu, then selecting "Update directory." You can then copy the "code" and "content" folders that in the file browser window that pops up to wherever you wish.
