References to tests but tests files not found on repository

There are references throughout the code to tests and pytest, but there are no test files in the repository.
If the test files are there, we can automate through GitHub CI Actions to run the tests automatically on new PRs to your selected branch.

There are some old branches that have some tests. We need to look if they are still valid and re-incorporate somehow to the new branches.
