Due to the nature of movies, it’s kind of hard to fit them somewhere perfectly. That being said, they’re also useful for things like tying an actual cinematic movie with its scenes that are more adult in content.
While this is great, a lot of Hollywood actors who have been in movies have also been in TV Series. Or in movies that comprise a series (think Star Wars Episodes I, II, III, IV, etc). Right now there’s no easy way to organize that, as it’s one higher level of organization that’s allowed.
Describe the solution you'd like
Following how Studios currently work, allow for one Movie to be the parent of another. So for example if you wanted to setup a “Movie” for the TV Series “The Girlfriend Experience”, you could setup the parent movie with that title. Then you can make a new movie for “S01E01 - Entry” and set “The Girlfriend Experience” as the parent. You would then add the plot-filled scenes of that episode to “S01E01 - Entry” and move on to the next episode.
Due to the fact that some shows have a lot of episodes, it would be great to pair this with a toggle to only show parent Movies.
Describe alternatives you've considered
Add an entirely new media type for Show, Episode, and potentially Season. This is a lot more work though than just reworking the existing structure for Movies.
Additional context
Right now movies are kind of in a weird space where they act as the glue that holds some scenes together, but also haven’t received as much attention as the rest of the media. It’s also kind of hard to fully grasp the use of them until you hit a situation where you need it. This set of Issues is intended to help make them more useful and to clean them up a bit.
For me I’m treating movies as exactly what they say they are, movies. I’ve added celebrities and I have various scenes downloaded from Mr. Skin and other sources that come from cinematic movies the actors / actresses have been in. Being able to create a shell of a movie is great to serve as a placeholder for all the movies someone has been in. I can then go through later and get all the scenes from the movie to add. This would help in not just adding movies, but also TV Series and other collections of collections.
