No highlight of py3 files #22854

Issue Report Checklist

  • Searched the issues page for similar reports
  • Read the relevant sections of the Spyder Troubleshooting Guide and followed its advice
  • Reproduced the issue after updating with conda update spyder (or pip, if not using Anaconda)

    • Reset preferences with spyder --reset

Problem Description

Py3 files are not among the supported text file, and I cannot higlight the syntax there

Versions

  • Spyder version: 6.0.2
  • Python version: 3.11.10 64-bit
  • Qt version: 5.15.8
  • PyQt version: 5,15,
  • Operating System name/version: Linux Mint 21.3 Linux 5.15.0-122-generic x86_64

Hey @mesti90, thanks for reporting. As far as I know, py3 is not a regular Python file extension. That's why is not supported in Spyder.
