Problem Description

The field names of a NamedTuple do not show on the Variable Explorer. It displays as a tuple without field names.

What steps reproduce the problem?

  1. Test code:
from collections import namedtuple
DateTuple = namedtuple('DateTuple',
                       ('day', 'month', 'year'))
today = DateTuple(day=14, month=3, year=2023)
  1. Open the variable today in the variable explorer.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

NamedTuple instance displays as tuple and no field names shown, a separate column should display the field names.

Hey @PhilipYip1988, thanks for reporting. Unfortunately, we don't support named tuples in the Variable Explorer, and I don't know we'll have time to do that, sorry.

So, I'm afraid this support will have to come from someone in the community willing to put the time and effort necessary to do it.
