I'm looking to perform independent research in AI and quantum machine learning. The reason I have chosen this non-traditional route for research is that I want to have full freedom over what I decide to research and how to approach it.

I also enjoy working with computer graphics and have started developing a lightweight webgl based game engine. Additionally, I believe neural networks can enhance artistic endeavours and will experiment incorporating them into the graphics rendering pipeline.

My dream is to create real artificial general intelligence, and I think it is achievable within our lifetime. This is a moonshot, but AGI isn't going to be created by someone who doesn't think it can be done.

In addition to publishing a formal research paper with open source code, I will also provide interactive and visual blog posts at https://vankessel.io summarizing the paper so you don't have to read dense academic writing.

I may also periodically publish educational content regarding machine learning, quantum computing, and other relevant topics.
