RPG text game

I present the implementation of my idea for a text game that I came up with in primary school. During the computer science class, we had the task to prepare a simple website in HTML (those were the days without CSS!). I, being a fan of fantasy text games at the time, started to create something similar. Unfortunately, without knowledge of such elementary things as variables, I couldn't handle it and finally abandoned the subject. But the idea stayed in my mind and now I can implement it!

Description

Note: this project is in the rough version - I'm still working on it. There is still a lot of work ahead of me, but the basic functionalities are already working and you can actually play the game now, which I encourage you to do!Simple overview of use/purpose.

We play this game using the numeric keypad and the enter key. Each action and each location to which we can go is marked with a number. So if we want to do something or go somewhere, we just type the number and hit enter.

I encourage you to look around your surroundings and learn about the possibilities. A little tip: not everything in the game is immediately available - some locations need to be activated in a certain way. What and how? I hope that the game will interest enough that the player himself will want to reach it!

It is also important that the game has an ending. There is something we should do to read "game over - you won!". Achieving this, however, may take a while, because we will certainly need to develop our character a bit to make it happen.

However, there are several ways to win the game - the player decides how he wants to develop his character. We don't just have to swing a sword and kill everything that can be killed, no.

Just start the game and try it. And have fun!

Getting Started

Here's how to run the game with the GCC compiler:

  1. Clone the repository:

    git clone https://github.com/smichajlidis/rpg-text-game.git
    cd rpg-text-game
  2. Build using CMake:

    mkdir build
    cd build
    cmake ..
  3. Compile the project:

    make
  4. Run:

    ./rpg-text-game
