Design request regarding the Preferences window
The preferences dialogue/window currently does not have a title bar. It really needs one.
It cannot be moved either, as there are no zones to manipulate it in this way (see title bar issue above).
It does not show up on the task bar. Again, this is crucial for making the software in it's current state a bit easier to use; you have to focus the main window if you want to bring the preferences window to the front again. I do realize these two are linked, but as of today these two windows might be opened on separate monitors, and then having to click a window on a different monitor is a bit frustrating (see multi-monitor issue below). However, if the multi-monitor issue is resolved, it means the issue with the task bar is no longer of importance, to be honest.
It will always open the Preferences window on the main monitor on multi-monitor setups (I see there are open issues on this topic already), so I wont go into detail on this here.
The window's (X) close button disappears when you scroll down in the window. This makes no sense whatsoever. Combined with using the escape key to apply and close the preferences, it only adds to the confusion, and many new users are reluctant to do this (as it would imply that any changed settings will be reverted when doing so). If the window is given a title bar and a pair of [CANCEL] and [APPLY] buttons, the right top custom (X) button can be removed and simply use the OS' own exit button for closing it.
Preferably, this window needs to be resizable as well (or make it a larger size, with a more compact layout), as there are now more and more items being propped into it. And the (tiny) scrollbar is easy to overlook for new users of Signal, and has a negative impact on the interface user-friendliness.
Alternatively, maybe there could be a floating, translucent reminder anywhere that says "Press Esc to close," which would sort of solve the X issue – at least to my personal satisfaction, anyways.
This issue has been automatically marked as stale because it has not had recent activity. It will be closed if no further activity occurs. Thank you for your contributions.
