Signal Desktop on Linux spams my system log with a bunch of useless stuff. I would like to be able to configure the log level (perhaps in config.json) for messages sent to the system log.

I would be willing to submit a PR for this feature.

How did you install it? By default its logging shouldn't be captured by the system.

I installed it using the apt archive using the instructions at https://signal.org/download/. I see that by itself the program just outputs to stdout/stderr. But when it's launched via the GNOME desktop environment (as is normal), the output is captured and sent to the system logger.

I can confirm this happens on Ubuntu 16.04 with latest version (1.26.2) updated today from your debian repo.
Program started from Gnome menu fills the syslog with an extremely verbose stream of messages.
Of course if started from a terminal window the same happens inside that window.
