Is there any way to currently do this? If not, can we support this feature?
Specifically, I'm talking about the macOS version, but I suppose users of other operating systems would appreciate this too.

On Linux, you can add the udev-rule (for example, in /etc/udev/rules.d/) that reads
/etc/udev/rules.d/
SUBSYSTEM=="power_supply", ATTR{online}=="0", RUN+="/usr/bin/pkill --exact -STOP qsyncthingtray" SUBSYSTEM=="power_supply", ATTR{online}=="1", RUN+="/usr/bin/pkill --exact -CONT qsyncthingtray"
and perhaps alike for syncthing itself.
