Does a filter exist to manipulate p2p metadata on save?

I have a p2p connection with a datepicker as a field. I'd like to intercept that date on save, and store it as a timestamp rather than a dd/mm/yy string.
Does such a filter exist?

easiest way to do it is by using save_post, imho
