$ whoami - Samuel Tauil

I'm a Senior Solution Engineer at Microsoft working on Developer Experience. My day-to-day revolves around helping teams get the most out of GitHub Copilot, VS Code, Codespaces, and GitHub Enterprise. Before Microsoft, I spent about sixteen years at Red Hat as a Principal Specialist Solutions Architect focused on OpenShift, Kubernetes, and GitOps. And before that, I was a Java developer and architect for a good while in Brazil.

I've been doing this for long time now, and most of what I care about sits at the intersection of developer tooling, cloud-native infrastructure, and open source. I got really deep into the GitOps world, served on the program committees for GitOpsCon and ArgoCon at the Linux Foundation, and helped contribute to the Certified GitOps Associate exam. That community shaped a lot of how I think about delivery pipelines and automation.

These days I spend most of my time thinking about how AI changes the way we write and ship software. I've been writing about that on my blog, things like agentic workflows, MCP apps in VS Code, and practical ways to use Copilot beyond autocomplete.

When I'm not working, I shoot film. Mostly expired film on vintage cameras and instant cameras (read here Polaroid). There's something about the unpredictability of analog photography that I really enjoy. You can see some of that on my photography page.
