can the samba ad be used outside the cluster?

can the samba ad be used outside the cluster say a remote windows machine? or does this have to be used on pods in the cluster

The ad dc image can be used outside of a k8s cluster. I mainly use it for testing but I run it on a vm running that single container. I join windows client vms and linux server containers.

Do be aware that it currently requires to be run as a privileged container.
