I've come across this issue in recent Android browsers.

I've rebuilt the entypo font using this fork
https://github.com/RaphaelBossek/entypo

which fixes line heights too

And rebuilt the stylesheet to suit.

Thanks man! Wanna open a PR? I've seen the same problem, and indeed the \1xxxx unicode escapes don't work for iPads
