How to handle multiple users/profiles?

My Wife and I have separate profiles in the viechle and separate accounts in the App, and apparently once she uses the car and switches to her profile, most functionality is gone.. until i switch it back to my account. How are you guys handling this? Would it be possible to add multiple accounts in the integration and make it so that it can leverage the account of whoever is using the car? Or is the only option to create an additional connection and somehow leverage automations and scripts to use the one that is available?

Does this happen also with the VW app? So, if your wife switches to her profile, are you able from the VW app, with your profile, to "change" things?

I suspect that doesn't work, too. Because what this integration does is to "mimic" the VW app itself, so if it works there it works also with the HA integration.

I understand that the limitation is on VW side and that the integration cannot access stuff it is not allowed to. I was more thinking of workarounds (unless there's a setting somewhere like you suggested). Like, would it be possible to develop the ability to provide multiple credentials to the integration, effectively making it able to act as the user currently logged in to the car. Or if anyone has set up multiple instances of the integration and found a somewhat smooth way of switching between them with automations or scripts..

I don't think workarounds are needed because the app (and the integration) has to work independently of the user, provided that the car has the connection enabled. Hence the suggestion to check for the privacy setting (which has up be at the minimum level = share my position setting) for every user.

Well i had a look during the weekend, the video seemed promising but that's not what my setting looked like so there must have been some changes :)
Both accounts do have share my position turned on though. So it seems like this might not be fixable on the vw side.

It's strange that if the accounts share the position they are not working in the VW app. Try to do this: log in to the VW website (not the app) with your account, which should be the main account (the one created when you bought the car) and then add your wife's account as a co-user. You can find this setting below the Vehicle status and Contracts, there's a specific Users section.

Probably you're missing this step which is necessary to allow both users to "use" the app. Of course your wife's account has to be approved and have her own email (different from yours).

I have messed around a bit more, and i am unable to add any users through the website. Seems like its the way it is. For now we simply removed my wife's user, and we'll just use the same account.
