Since setuptools version 71, importing pkg_resources seem to inject setuptools vendored dependencies in the working set (pypa/setuptools#4516).
This makes me think we can't upgrade our vendored setuptools beyond 70.3.
This is something I have not confirmed myself, so just a big question I have for now, that I post as a heads up.
