specify plugins using git url?

Is it possible to specify a plugin using a git url?

[build-system]
requires = ["hatchling", "hatch-datavolo-nar"]
build-backend = "hatchling.build"

I was wondering if the same thing could be done as with pip, e.g.

pip install https://git+github.com/<owner_name>/<repo_name>.git.@<version#>

so something like this?

[build-system]
requires = ["hatchling", "https://git+github.com/datavolo-io/hatch-datavolo-nar.git"]
build-backend = "hatchling.build"
