Getting consistent results with find_package(Python ...)

I am struggling to get a consistent result out of cmake's standard find_package(Python ...) and whatever pybind11 runs to find Python. My CMakeLists.txt contains

find_package(Python REQUIRED COMPONENTS Interpreter Development)
add_subdirectory(libs/pybind11)

The output of this, on a system which contains Python 3.12 and 3.13, when run with

cmake -DPython_EXECUTABLE=/opt/homebrew/opt/python@3.12/bin/python3.12 ..

shows that find_package picks up the Python I want, but pybind11 doesn't:

-- Found Python: /opt/homebrew/opt/python@3.12/bin/python3.12 (found version "3.12.8") found components: Interpreter Development Development.Module Development.Embed
-- pybind11 v2.14.0 dev1
-- Found PythonInterp: /opt/homebrew/bin/python3 (found suitable version "3.13.1", minimum required is "3.8")
-- Found PythonLibs: /opt/homebrew/opt/python@3.13/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/3.13/lib/libpython3.13.dylib

What am I doing wrong?

To answer my own question:

find_package(Python REQUIRED COMPONENTS Interpreter Development)
set(PYTHON_EXECUTABLE ${Python_EXECUTABLE} CACHE INTERNAL "")
set(PYBIND11_PYTHON_VERSION ${Python_VERSION} CACHE INTERNAL "")
add_subdirectory(libs/pybind11)

seems to do the trick of propagating the info from find_package(Python ...) to pybind11.
