will need to update both our diagram and the tables / description about hatch.

I've taken a stab at this - I don't know how diagrams are built, so no changes there.

I haven't linked out to hatch.pypa.io. The only mention I can find in the docs of this ability is https://hatch.pypa.io/1.9/why/#build-backend (in why not?). There is also https://hatch.pypa.io/1.9/config/build/#build-system, but it doesn't really hint at other backend options. That's totally ok, hatch should promote hatchling, we just might be the first writing a hatch frontend/other backend guide.

thanks @ucodery Ahhh right the diagram is the chose a tool diagram. i can definitely change that once we are happy with the pr!
