- Make a list of all external links included in the lesson
- Review each link to ensure that it is correct/that the webpage is still available
- Make a separate list of links that appear incorrect/are broken. (At the end of this task, we can collaborate with the author + editor to agree alternatives or omissions)
- Log-in to the PH Perma.cc account (credentials are in our secure Bitwarden vault)
- Create a new folder. Name it to indicate the lesson's language + the filename, for example:
FR-lesson-slug
- Navigate to your new folder so that the Perma links you create will be stored inside it. You can either paste in the URLs and generate Perma links one-by-one, or choose to create multiple links — this option can be simplest. open a new window
- If you choose to Create Multiple Links, you need to paste the URLs into a list (one URL per line) then click Create Links.
- When the archival links are ready, you’ll be presented with a list to review. It includes the original URLs, alongside the new Perma links. Perma links follow the structure:
https://perma.cc/XXXX-XXXX
- Return to the lesson
.md
file - Carefully substitute each original link with its corresponding archival link
- Post a comment in the Issue if you have identified any problem links. We can collaborate with the author + editor to find alternatives or agree to remove any broken links. If new links are selected, repeat the steps above.
For details about which links to archive using this method, see the Perma Links section of the Typesetting Wiki page.
