Problem Statement ID: 25012 Problem Statement Title: Automated Attendance System for Rural Schools Hackathon: Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2025
SIKSHALOG is an AI-powered smart attendance system designed for rural schools in India. It replaces time-consuming manual roll calls with automated face recognition and fingerprint-based verification. Built with an offline-first architecture, it works reliably even in low-connectivity areas, helping teachers save time, reduce manual errors, and ensure accurate reporting for government programs like the Mid-Day Meal Scheme.
The system provides a simple, web-based interface for marking attendance, generating reports, and ensuring fair allocation of resources. This prototype demonstrates real-time face recognition and sample UI, with additional features planned for future releases.
- Frontend: React.js, TailwindCSS
- Face Recognition: Face-API.js
- Backend (Planned): Express.js
- Database (Planned): MongoDB
- Deployment: Netlify
