Another project work evaluating in this space is Mysterium, an experiment with building a decentralized VPN service. My understanding is that its tech would allow multiple vendors to offer competing services on the same network (apparently using a blockchain ... somehow?). |

I have read about the VPN service providers, but I am aware there are some open-source free (some self-hosted) VPN solutions that might be worth mentioning like OpenVPN or FreeLAN, for example.
