Latest 5.8.0-7625 update to 20.04LTS won't boot unless "quiet" option is removed.

This is a Thinkpad T460p running vanilla PopOS (few extensions but no other customisation) 20.04LTS fully updated.
The 5.8 kernel update came through Pop Shop as per usual, installed, rebooted and the screen goes straight to powersave. The laptop does not boot (no net/ssh access or dhcp request).

The laptop boots again if I remove the "quiet" option from the kernel line (either at boot or at the entry in /boot/efi/loader/entries).

No idea why but this is very weird. Thanks.

@pop-os/quality-assurance for reference, this system has this CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6820HQ CPU @ 2.70GHz

We must have Skylake-H somewhere for testing. It would also need integrated graphics, like an older Gazelle or Kudu

I picked up a kudu3 with an i7-6800HQ and it doesn't have the same issue. I think whatever it is, it's not related to this specific series of CPU.

Using a dell XPS 13 9365 with an i7-7Y75.

Works when removing "Quiet" in the same way.
