1) Build the PLFS library and supporting tools.
0) In order to build the tools that work with fuse, you'll need to have fuse
installed and have /dev/libfuse loaded.
1) cmake .
Please see cmake -LAH for all of the options available. If any headers
have been installed in non-standard locations you can set
CMAKE_INCLUDE_PATH to make them discoverable when building.
If you want a release build run cmake with -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release
and if you want a debug build run with -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Debug
To install in a non-default location run cmake with
-DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/desired/install/path
Out of tree builds are recommended to keep the source tree clean. To
do an out of tree build create a build directory somewhere then run
cmake as usual but instead of "cmake [cmake flags] ." use
"cmake [cmake flags] /path/to/plfs/src" from within your build dir.
Please note that the build dir can not be the same as the install
dir; the build and install dirs must be distinct from each other.
If admin tool installation is desired, define -DADMIN_TOOLS=yes when
running cmake. The admin tools (dcon, findmesgbuf, plfs_map, plfs_query,
and plfs_recover) will all be installed in [installpath]/sbin. Man pages
for all tools will be installed alongside PLFS.
2) make
3) make install
The default installation path is /usr/local.
4) Add the paths to the PLFS binaries to PATH. If using the default install
path, then /usr/local/bin and /usr/local/sbin need to be added to PATH.
PLFS's lib directory can also be added to LD_LIBRARY_PATH. The default
is /usr/local/lib. It may also be useful to add PLFS's man pages to
MANPATH. The default is /usr/local/share/man.
### IMPORTANT ###
5) All PLFS installations need a valid plfsrc file. Please see the plfsrc
man page located by default in /usr/local/share/man/man5. Please note
that the plfsrc file format has changed as of version 2.4. Any old plfsrc
files not in the new YAML format need to be edited to conform to the new
standard before upgrading to PLFS 2.4 or above. By default PLFS will look
for a plfsrc file in $HOME/.plfsrc and /etc/plfsrc. You can also set
the PLFSRC environment variable to point to a plfsrc file.
6) Check your plfsrc file with plfs_check_config (located in the bin
directory in the PLFS source tree after running make or in the
installation directory's bin directory).
2) To install PLFS as a ROMIO ADIO layer for MPI-IO.
Please see mpi_adio/README.patching for instructions on getting PLFS
to work as a ROMIO ADIO layer.
3) To install the ACE analysis framework.
0) In order to run the tools that work with mpi, you'll need to have a version of
mpi installed and loaded. In order to run any of the tools, you will need
to have a version of swig and the following python modules: matplotlib and
networkx. If you want to run the interactive version, you will also need
the wxpython python module.
1) Set the shell environment variable PLFS_ACE to 1 in order for the module to
be built.
2) If you are using a version of mpi that cmake is unable to find, set the
following variables when running cmake.
-DMPI_INCLUDE_PATH=/path/to/mpi/include/files to the include
files of mpi and -DMPI_LIBRARY=/path/to/mpi/lib/file
to the file of the library .so. The library
file should be a library for c++ as the tool is written in c++.
