Similarly to #1092: There is at the moment no easy way to do automatic code checking, aka uni testing offline. This might be useful for any contributor to check before committing and pushing.
Issue #1071 and PR #1088 are a first step bit there need to be some scripts or the like to integrate and simulate the bahavior of travis. (Maybe it would even be better to adopt travis to the offline test so these tests are exactly the same...)
So, we should have offline unit testing ready to go.
