Today I installed the latest UTMStack version via the ISO in my private Proxmox environment and added a Linux agent. Everything worked so far, the client registered on the server, but agent status under Data Sources is Unknown, even though it says Status: Online when I open the details. Filebeat is collecting data on the client, but under Data Processing it says Linux Agent is down (red). So nothing seems to come in. As I did not tinker with the firewall settings and used the provided ISO I thought everything should be set up correctly in this regard.
EDIT: ss on the client shows connections to ports 9000, 9001 and 50051 to the master. So no firewall blocking on the client side either.
EDIT 2: Ok, I installed a random new Ubuntu 24 client, added the agent and after a unminimize having the client installing a whole lot of new packages, THIS client is sending data and processing started. In comparison, none of my servers are Ubuntu, but Debian 12, I installed an agent to such a machine, and even though the agent registered and filebeat collecting data, this data is not being processed. WHAT IS THIS? I don't know why I should install Ubuntu on Servers in environments where restrictions says use Debian. We are running about a 100 servers in the company and NONE is Ubuntu...
I installed the whole thing in private to become familiar with it and test if it might work for us in the company, but if I am unable to add normal Debian based servers, then the whole thing is quite useless for me. Sad.
What can I do to get the whole thing going?
EDIT 3: I did some ore of research and tried to find the differences between both Linux machines. I found out that installing rsyslog did the trick on the machine which did not want to come up in UTMStack. I re-read the documentation but somehow did not find any hint regarding rsyslog.
Are there any other prerequesites on a Linux/Windows machine so that the UTMStack agent is able to process everything correctly?
