Puck.js v2 data receiving in MIT App

Hi

I’m trying to receive gyroscope data in a MIT app. I can scan and connect to the sensor but cannot get any data same as nRF app in android. Is there any help on how to connect and get data?

Hi - I can't see what code you're running on the Puck.js here - do you think you could post that up? There's presumably something that's asking to to provide that 0x181A characteristic.

But looking at your code (it seems what you pasted here can't be viewed so I've copied it from the duplicate issue you filed):

I'm not sure you've called 'startNotifications' on Bluetooth in app inventor. I'm not sure what the app inventor equivalent is, but generally in bluetooth if you're looking for data being sent from a characteristic, you need to handle the data notifications but also tell the device you want it to start transmitting notifications.

You not being able to receive notifications in the android app you're using could be similar? On NRF Connect you normally have to click a button to enable notifications (the blue one?). Or, it could be an issue with the app that's running on Puck.js, but I have no idea what that app is so I can't really comment at the moment.

Thanks for your reply. I have attached my Java code (can get xyz values in IDE and nRF app) and MIT app (I changed it to string), but still get an error. I have checked the UUID, which is the same as the nRF app.

Ok, thanks. Changing to use the standard Nordic UART peripheral as you've just done is probably easier.

I've never used App Inventor, but as far as I can tell what you're doing there seems fine and the characteristic UUIDs look ok.

Maybe you could see if you could find some example code for using App Inventor with "Nordic UART" which is the standard Puck.js is using for communication. It feels like the kind of thing someone must have tried before
