API: /search/spaces to support sort and filter

The existing /search API does not take sort and filtering into account. The UI needs to show sorted, paginated data.

This API also does not allow me to search just the user's spaces -- it searches everything across the system.

FYI, I'm in the process of implementing the UXD design below for the my spaces page. However, this also applies to the existing "View all spaces" page.

If I could at least search the user's spaces only, I could have used this API to apply the toolbar filter.

I am looking at this issue right now, when you say you want server side filtering and sorting, how is it done right now? What exactly do you expect as input and output here? A little clarity on this would be great.

For sorting in particular what keys would you want to sort your data against? How do we control the order of sort(ascending or descending)?

Currently, sorting and filtering is performed client-side only, based on the space name. This doesn't work well because the data is paginated. Unless we have all the data available, we cannot perform a client-side filter/sort properly. Filtering/sorting client-side omits data that may still only exists server-side (e.g., when the user has not paginated through all pages of data).
