Reviewers acknowledge in JOSS #624
Comments
We don't have an automatic way of doing this - although I think this would be a very nice feature for us to implement. We have written in the past about reviewers (e.g. https://blog.joss.theoj.org/2019/05/a-special-thanks-to-our-most-dedicated-reviewers) but not recently. |
We've just added a (possibly related) feature to make it possible to see all of the papers reviewed by someone e.g. https://joss.theoj.org/papers/reviewed_by/@gradvohl |
Great work @arfon!! Thanks a lot! 👍 |
When automation is considered for this, it might be nice to automate a Publons-friendly email for those reviewers interested in acknowledgement on Publons (or whatever other service). As a handling editor I’ve had a couple of requests (from reviewers) to acknowledge their review in publons. It’s not too terrible a hassle, but it would be nice if this were automated. Publons can give a reviewer credit for their review if that reviewer forwards a “thank you” email sent to them by the editor. Whatever ends up being automated to satisfy the needs of this issue, it would be nice if it were something directly useful for publons. (Honestly, maybe the auto-generated list of papers reviewed by a user is enough for Publons... I'm not actually sure what they accept other than emails.) |
It would be great to deposit reviews directly to ORCID, without the (non-open) Publons intermediary (which did work for me in the past by simply sending a link to the review), see docs at https://support.orcid.org/hc/en-us/articles/360006971333-Peer-Review JOSS could become a trusted organisation on ORCID and update the peer review activity. |
We could do this if we had the emails of the reviewers (which we currently don't often have). As we build out the reviewer management system we could add this kind of functionality.
Good idea. I've opened a tracking issue for this in #813 |
Does JOSS acknowledge the reviewers somehow? For instance, in a list of reviewers in 2019, 2018, etc.
