On https://www.openhab.org/docs/installation/openhabian.html, it is described, which HW to get.
Here, you could place an add of a seller for the HW, to

  • make buying the right HW easier with a preconfigured shopping card
  • finance the openhab-project by receiving some add placement income
  • support a fair(er) purchase of the HW (not amazon?!)

Those docs are maintained by the openHABian repo. This issue needs to be moved there.

Some concerns:

  • Given that OH is used by a pretty diverse international community it is unlikely that there is just one link to any hardware that will work for anyone. There really isn't one link that will work equally well for everyone from China to Bulgaria to South Africa to Brasil.
  • Even openHABian which is primarily developed for use on RPis, any link would naturally be to an RPi reseller, but again, there's a different reseller for different reagions. And these change meaning keeping up with these links is going to be an additional burden on the maintainers.
  • OH itself and openHABian in general is hardware agnostic for the most part.
  • I'm pretty sure the openHAB Foundation is not allowed to earn money in this way and keep it's non-profit status.
