The purpose and use-cases of the new component

Trace Reshape Processor drops span but preserves the span relationship by re-wiring the child spans of the filtered span to its parent span. In the case of links present on the filtered span, preserve the links by copying them to its child spans.

Example configuration for the component

It uses the OpenTelemetry Transformation Language for conditions to determine when spans should be dropped.
Example:

processors:
  tracereshape:
      span:
        - 'kind.string == "Internal"'

Telemetry data types supported

traces only.

Is this a vendor-specific component?

  • This is a vendor-specific component
  • If this is a vendor-specific component, I am proposing to contribute and support it as a representative of the vendor.
