During the October 2021 OONI Community Meeting, a community member highlighted the need to enable OONI Probe users to learn about the project, more easily receive updates, get involved, etc.
As a starting point, we opened this ticket (about linking to the OONI blog and reports via OONI Probe): #1850
The community member mentioned that they'd like to see us linking to OONI github issues through OONI Probe, so that users can more easily check what is working, what's blocked, what's currently inaccessible due to other reasons (e.g. Facebook being down), etc.
In general, I really like (and agree with) the idea of providing more updates through the OONI Probe app and further contextual information. However, my concern is that if we link to github tickets, we risk spamming OONI Probe users with highly technical and domain-specific information that they may not care about.
Generally, we provide all updates (new reports, bugs, issues, etc.) through the OONI Twitter account (in a much more user-friendly way than github issues): https://twitter.com/openobservatory
Perhaps we could link to the OONI Twitter or somehow pull OONI tweets and share them via the app?
