Command args being made available to cwd

I am looking to be able to majorly reduce declared targets in a project.json file and the --args param seems to be ideal BUT from what I've tried so far, it doesn't seem that these are able to be used within the cwd command.

Example (not working):

    "deploy-microsite": {
      "executor": "nx:run-commands",
      "options": {
        "cwd": "packages/websites/microsite-{args.name}",
        "commands": [
          "nx run @someorg/websites-microsite-{args.name}:deploy --output-style=stream --nx-bail=true"
        ],
        "color": true,
        "parallel": false
      }
    },

Not sure if there is some other workaround, but love to get any thoughts and/or see if this might be possible to get added??

I'd be happy to attempt a PR for this if there isn't a good reason why this intentionally isn't done?

(and if anyone can give me some idea on where to start across the vast codebase that would be super helpful - but will figure it out either way if not!)
