Can plasma‐assisted chemical vapor transport (PACVT) processes be developed to produce decent quality crystaline semiconductors?

Instead of being beholden to or constrained by the existing physics of failure or drivers of reliabiliry issues that emanate from existing capital expenditures and existing human skillsets/familiarity with current fabrication processes ... why aren't consumers of more technically advanced and generally more reliable next-generation semiconductors?
