This is the place for conversation around Mutterkey: setup questions, KDE/Plasma quirks, model choices, workflow ideas, and early feature proposals that are not ready to become issues yet.

Mutterkey is intentionally narrow in scope (for now at least):

• native C++ + Qt 6
• KDE Plasma first
• local-only transcription through embedded whisper.cpp
• CLI / systemd --user service oriented
• no GUI at the moment

I'm still figuring out the direction for the project, but I personally need a simple, easy to use dictation tool for my development purposes.

A few good uses for Discussions:

• getting help with configuration or service setup
• comparing Whisper models and runtime tradeoffs
• debugging hotkey , clipboard, session, etc. behavior
• proposing features and pressure-testing the idea before implementation
• sharing your own setup, scripts, or usage patterns

Use Issues for concrete bugs, reproducible regressions, and clearly scoped implementation tasks. Use Discussions when the topic is still exploratory, open-ended, or likely useful to other users.

Useful context when starting a thread:

• distro and KDE Plasma version
• install method
• whether you are using daemon, once, or diagnose
• relevant config snippets
• logs or diagnostic output if something is failing

The project is still minimal by design, so pragmatic feedback is especially useful. If something is confusing, brittle, or awkward in real use, that is worth discussing.
