MPV is not able to lock on refresh rate with video-sync=display-resample

The estimated refresh rate varies a lot when using video-sync=display-resample. How much varies, sometimes just with a few decimals sometimes I have seen it drop to 80 hz on a 120 hz display. One thing is that it pretty much never exceeds 122 hz or so, it constantly changes.

• CachyOS
• VRR is turned off
• Happens with both kwin and labwc
• Happens with both with radv and propietary nvidia driver
• No frames are dropped, only mistimed and delayed frames
• The estimation fluctuates less with opengl

Here it became stuck for a while on 115 hz with a lot of mistimed and delayed frames.
