TYPO3 12 comes with password policies which are configurable and extendable, too.
See: https://docs.typo3.org/m/typo3/reference-coreapi/main/en-us/ApiOverview/PasswordPolicies/Index.html

This may make the extension me_backend_security superfluous. I need to check this in detail.

Still missing is the redention time of one password, which is main focus for me going with this extension.

But it would bei great to see a V12 compatible plugin

Hi @jwundrak thanks for your feedback. :)
Me and my team mates will discuss if this extension is still useful for TYPO3 12+ or not, soon. Your comment about the retention time is a good argument to be included in the discussion.

I am using this package in a project as well and therefore I am interested in the outcome, provided you found time to discuss it.

Hi @nostadt and @jwundrak sorry for my late response I am quite busy at the moment.
Unfortunately, we didn't discuss about the future of the extension in the team so far, but I will try to place a meeting to make some progress.

Good morning @Mainbird,

thank you for your response and sorry for my late reply. I just saw your response. Anyway, I appreciate that you will try to place a meeting.

Hi @Mainbird ,

The retention time of the password is still a known issue for our customer, but only because of the organisation policy. Because this is not recommended from the BSI anymore, there are some movements, to strike this requirement.

All others requirements works well with TYPO3 v12 and the extension fe_change_pwd .

I personaly would start a new externsion or maybe a core contricution, to have the retention-feature. But currently I'm also very busy like @nostadt .

If you have other requirements for this extension and need customer feedback, feel free to contact me.

Thanks for the support.

In case it's relevant: We have talked to the customer and came to the conclusion that the password retention part is not needed by the customer anymore.

Hi @nostadt and @jwundrak, sorry for my late response again. :(
We have discussed the future of the extension today and unilaterally decided against further development for TYPO3 12+.

So this extension will reach the end of life, but maybe we will provide a new extension with the password retention time part in the future.

I will check this as soon as possible. :)

No problem. Thanks for providing the extension in the past!
