Recycle Bin Issue

I can easily remove the menus added by Windows in the right-click menu of the Recycle Bin, but no matter what method I try, I can't remove the menus added by the Nilesoft Shell application to the Recycle Bin's right-click menu.

The closest solution was the following code:

modify(type="recyclebin" where=window.is_desktop and !regex.match(this.name,'(^ouvrir$|^vider.*)') vis=0)

However, in a very strange way, this code does not remove the menus it should, such as Terminal or File Manager. Instead, it removes the "Open" and "Empty Recycle Bin" menus, which I actually want to keep.

I've never encountered such an issue before, and unfortunately, I haven't been able to solve it.

Is there a solution for this?

But this is not a snippet that I can share and you can just use it - you need to rebuild the shell.nss with new logic.

İIt seemed logical to write the solution here so that it could be useful for those who need it as well.

1. To remove the right-click menu options added by the Nilesoft Shell application to the Recycle Bin, use the following Virtual Container codes when importing into shell.nss:

You can modify, add, or delete the files you import here according to your needs. Just make sure to pay attention to your import path.

3. If you want to add a different name and icon to the Open menu of the Recycle Bin, different from the Open menu in the right-click menu of desktop files and folders, add the following code to modify.nss.

Based on the screenshot you shared, in the recycle bin, there are two types of options:
Options added by the Nilesoft shell application,
Options created by Windows.

To remove the menu options created by the Nilesoft shell application, for example, inside shell.nss:

The above code will remove the menus added by the Nilesoft Shell application in the recycle bin by importing them from a carrier. The options added by file-manage.nss and terminal.nss will no longer appear in the recycle bin menus.

Secondly, to hide the options added by Windows in the recycle bin, you can manipulate the code in modify.nss like this:

modify(type="recyclebin" where=window.is_desktop find="menu option you want to delete here" vis=0)

This way, you can remove each option individually.
Feel free to adapt the examples to fit your specific needs.

I have Windows 11pro 24h2 and the latest version of Nilesoft, I put the first code in my personal nss modification file. Since it did not work then I inserted it in the Shell.nss file, but with the same result. P.S. to put the icon on open how do I do it?

If you add the code I provided at the point where the shell.nss file code ends, it should work without errors. You can track where the error is occurring from the shell.log file. You need to import the nss files, which are the source of the menus added to the recycle bin menu, into this code with the correct path. In the code I provided, there are examples such as file-manager.nss and terminal.nss. If you adjust them according to your setup, it should work. You can track where the error is coming from by checking the log records. Also, under normal conditions, the recycle bin icon should be visible. In order to give you an idea about where the error is coming from, I would need to see all the code and customizations you have made.

Found the error, I should not have inserted the taskbar.nss file in the code. The problem remains with the "More Options" item which would be more_options and why there is no icon for the Open item

You can call the icon from modify.nss, but normally, the absence of the icon is an abnormal situation there must be something missing somewhere. If I find a solution for the icon, I will add it here.

I did a few tests and was able to change the "Open" icon to call the one I wanted, but I think the code should be more stable. Instead of adding a new icon manually, it would be a better solution to find out why the original icon is not appearing.

maybe the reason why it is not added is that when I installed Windows I debloated it, among the changes there was also that of returning to the original menu. I think this is the cause, the "Other options" item still needs to be resolved

P.S., if I have to tell the whole truth there is another problem that I have already opened a post about, the delay in displaying the context menu, which I have however ascertained is Windows, I have tried various suggested "Fix" solutions but nothing changes, the PC is not lightning fast but it is still a 4 core, 8 theread.

nothing to do, the modification adds the icon, but in other menus it duplicates or triples the open item 😂😭😭😭😭

I think I saw your post about the delay you mentioned. There are many factors at play here, from hardware to software, so it's hard to pinpoint the exact cause. I've made a lot of modifications to this shell application, but one thing I've always been careful about is that I never kept all the extra features in a single file. Instead, I imported each new feature through a separate NSS file and stored all my extra files in a dedicated folder within the main directory.

I even removed the parts of the shell application that I didn't want and split some of its menus into separate NSS files, importing them individually to organize them better.

The only reason that comes to my mind is that a heavily loaded, complex NSS file might be causing the delay. If you import many additional features along with the core features from a single NSS file, this could be the reason for the delay. Otherwise, this application isn't something that would push the PC's hardware to its limits, so I don't think it's a hardware-related issue.

I agree, in fact on a virtual machine with a clean installation of Windows 11 Pro 24h2 and with only 8GB of RAM, the appearance of the contextual menus is rapid, it slows down as you install your various personal software, some of which you can't avoid adding entries to the contextual menu.

I restored the original windows 11 menu, as you can see from the screenshot, the icon is there but when I restart Nilesoft it doesn't appear....... I'll get over it 😂😂

Right-click on a folder or file on the desktop and check if there is an icon at the beginning of the "Open" menu. The Recycle Bin's "Open" menu takes its icon from there, and if there is no icon in the desktop right-click menu, there will be no icon in the Recycle Bin menu either. Therefore, this is not a Windows issue; such an icon does not exist in the Shell application.

Write the following code into modify.nss and restart Explorer. If the same icon appears in both menus, there is no issue—this is the normal behavior.

modify(find='Apri' image=\uE0A4)

That icon is not present in the original version of the application anyway.

Hi, I also thought about removing, modifying, the "Create Shortcut" item, to make the More options menu disappear. Unfortunately it doesn't work, I also tried using "id.create_shortcut" or "create link" or "create shortcut", but nothing to do, it doesn't disappear, it's a mystery. As for the trash icon, I'm fine with it as it is, thanks anyway.
