tools for assisting Assistant Film Editors in processing Avid Media Composer turnovers. Many scripts are designed to integrate with FileMaker Pro databases, both by inputting and outputting .csv files, and also by direct SQL queries using the ODBC protocol. A functional installation of ffmpeg and ffprobe is required. Some scripts will not work without a compatible FileMaker Pro database, but most will.
Development of this repo is driven by work needs. The demands of the job (Assistant Film Editing) often requires that I move on to other tasks once a particular function can be performed satisfactorily. Over time, I have tried to refine functionality, add error checking and support for corner cases, and migrate functionality into generalized objects that can be repurposed for future tasks.
Many tests are written using inputs from actual film and television projects. These inputs are proprietary and not included in the repository. Many tests will not run successfully without them.
