SQLServer Module RoadMap

Our goal is to eventually open source the SQL PowerShell module here on GitHub.

The envisioned progression

• v22

  • On April 4, 2023 we released version 22.0.59 as Generally Available.
  • The next release of v22 (22.3.0) will remove all SqlVulnerabilityAssessment cmdlets. Customers that still need to use these cmdlets should use v22.2.0 or earlier. These cmdlets are being removed as they do not consume findings from Defender for Cloud, and updates are not received in real time, which may cause inconsistencies compared to the updated findings from Defender for Cloud. To prevent further confusion and inconsistencies in customers' database security experiences, we will remove all SqlVulnerabilityAssessment cmdlets in the next release.

• v23

  • The version 23 will be the first release of the module out of GitHub (we will add source code at that time).
  • Microsoft will still be responsible to fetch the sources and build on our internal pipelines.
