This is to announce that we are planning to move the QCoDeS repository from https://github.com/qcodes/qcodes to https://github.com/microsoft/qcodes
This will ensure that QCoDeS complies with Microsoft’s requirements for Open Source and makes us able to make use of Microsoft’s Open-Source Infrastructure.
This should have a minimal impact on any users of QCoDeS. We will continue to publish packages to pypi and conda-forge as normal and you can still clone the repository from Github and the old URL should automatically redirect to the new URL. QCoDeS will continue to be released under the MIT license with no changes. The URL of the QCoDeS documentation is likely to change. We will communicate a new URL as soon as it is available.
If you contribute to QCoDeS you will, however, be required to sign the Microsoft Contributor License Agreement (CLA). Please consult the CLA for the legal requirements of signing the CLA. The process of signing the CLA should be automatically handled by Github and not take more than a few clicks.
