I had been using ngPost with no issues prior to this, but after a fresh install of Windows 10, I cannot post a file when selecting 'gen par2'.

After compressing files, ngPost gets to point that it displays 'Generating par2...' in the Posting log and apparently hangs. No par files are generated and nothing happens even after 10 minutes.

I would really appreciate any possible solutions to resolve this issue!

Debug info shows;
Start Post # 1: V8UfQ54e9ZSnts7F2R.nzb
postSize: 22187 MB => volSize: 300
[18:28:47.835] Compressing files: C:/Program Files/WinRAR/WinRAR.exe a -ep1 -m0 -idp -hpv8WB36GdT24exfymwh -v300m I:/Upload/V8UfQ54e9ZSnts7F2R/V8UfQ54e9ZSnts7F2R.rar F:/1 Transfer/1 To Post/V8UfQ54e9ZSnts7F2R -r

=> rar exit code: 0

[18:30:00.941] Generating par2: C:/Users/mypc/Desktop/ngPost v4.16_x64/par2.exe c -l -m1024 -r10 I:/Upload/V8UfQ54e9ZSnts7F2R/V8UfQ54e9ZSnts7F2R.par2 I:/Upload/V8UfQ54e9ZSnts7F2R/V8UfQ54e9ZSnts7F2R*rar -q

hi
that's weird, do you have par2 in the folder?
can you try to open a terminal, (cmd or powershell), go in the ngPost folder. try to do the same command :

 C:/Users/mypc/Desktop/ngPost v4.16_x64/par2.exe c -l -m1024 -r10 I:/Upload/V8UfQ54e9ZSnts7F2R/V8UfQ54e9ZSnts7F2R.par2 I:/Upload/V8UfQ54e9ZSnts7F2R/V8UfQ54e9ZSnts7F2R*rar -q

sth happens?
I would suggest to install parpar (download here). Take the win64 version. Once install edit ngPost.ini. Set the path in: PAR2_PATH then change PAR2_ARGS = -s5M -r1n*0.6 -m2048M -p1l --progress stdout -q
you will benefit from parpar that is much faster than par2 ;)
Let me know if it works ;)

hi,
to create par files I want to try with parpar now that you recommend it, I have a doubt, once configured the path and the arguments in the config file I have to uncheck (remove) the # for the setting to take effect or it is not necessary?

ps: guess I should have the ‘gen par2’ option checked in the windows GUI, right?

edit: also, it is necessary to set the path to this executable or it is not needed. PAR2_PATH = <your_path>par2j64.exe
The windows 64 file I downloaded from parpar only included ‘parpar.exe’. I did overwrite it in the program folder as it incorporated an older version of the program but kept the original version of ‘par2j64.exe’.

A different drive to install Win10 on appears to have solved the issue I have no clue why!
