Feature request: free-hand drawing with only a stylus on trackpad, perhaps by hot-key to toggle on/off drawing a line following the track of the cursor (without holding down mouse-button/trackpad button).

I can sort-of, in a very ugly way, free-hand draw with a capacitive stylus if I also have a finger pressing on the trackpad at same time, as explained in "The Trick" section here:

What section of code would I need to modify to somehow to be able to free-hand draw with just the stylus: maybe all that would be needed is a hot-key that toggles on-off the equivalent of pressing finger on trackpad. Or maybe toggle on-off some-sort of freehand drawing mode. What section of code might I need to hack to try this ? In a nutshell, I want to draw by just moving cursor around using only a stylus (or finger for that matter) without having to press down on the trackpad to click/select.

Thats a nice idea actually - if you wanted to give it a go it shouldn't be too hard. I would say set up a key that needs to be held down to enable stylus mode and when that key is held down then run the logic in DrawingViewModel.mouseDragged(with:) when the mouse moves and everything else should work!

I'd probably avoid using a toggle so that there's a clear definition of when a line starts and ends (don't want the toggle to be left on when the window changes, for example)
